Think out of the Box: Show Flat Design by Yu-Lin Shih

Breaking Away from the Framework and Enhancing the Joy of Living

Often when the door of the house is opened, there will always be a porch before seeing the whole picture of the house. Nowadays, in order to allow visitors to quickly enter the residential space and be immersed in the joyful atmosphere of being entertained, when planning the residence, it is challenged to use the living room as the area to enter after opening the door first.

Yu-Lin Shih, the renowned designer, has created a unique and innovative design called "Think out of the Box." This design challenges the traditional notion of a show flat and aims to enhance the joy of living through creative space planning and furnishings. With a focus on breaking away from the framework and maintaining a sense of beauty, this design offers a refreshing and exciting living experience.

The show flat is designed with the intention of adding layers to life and getting rid of tasteless rules. By using frames to make breakthroughs, Yu-Lin Shih has created a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The use of a row of black marble storage walls in the living room not only adds a touch of elegance but also provides ample storage space, eliminating the worry of excessive exposure of items.

One of the highlights of this design is the integration of the kitchen and dining room, creating a seamless and interactive space. The open kitchen concept, combined with bench dining chairs, promotes real and natural interaction with people. Whether it's cutting fruits, bread, or pouring a glass of wine while chatting with friends, the show flat exudes a homely atmosphere and reflects the complete acceptance of guests.

The lighting combination above the dining table is another ingenious feature of this design. The triangle shade lamp and the ball lamp create a beautiful contrast, ensuring that the light is not too dazzling when looking up. This attention to detail enhances the overall ambiance of the space.

With a total area of 48 square meters, the show flat showcases the perfect balance between functionality and aesthetics. It is a testament to the designer's ability to create a space that is both visually stunning and practical.

Completed in November 2020 in Taiwan, this project embodies the vision and concept of breaking away from the framework and adding layers to life. It is a testament to the designer's commitment to creating a space that goes beyond the ordinary and brings joy to its inhabitants.

The "Think out of the Box" show flat has received recognition for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This prestigious award is given to designs that are well-designed, practical, and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements.

Yu-Lin Shih, along with the design team, including Ling-Chun Tseng, has successfully overcome creative and technical challenges to bring this unique show flat design to life. Through their ingenuity and thoughtful planning, they have created a space that breaks free from the mundane routine and enhances the joy of living.

With its innovative approach to design, "Think out of the Box" is a testament to the power of creativity and the ability to transform a space into a surprise package full of fun. It serves as an inspiration for those looking to add a touch of uniqueness and originality to their living spaces.
